ICOACHKIDS was proud to contribute to The R&A Junior Retention Workshop, hosted by the Nederlandse Golf Federatie (NGF) in Utrecht.
During the workshop, Gary Hodgson and Barnaby Sargent Megicks facilitated a session exploring key themes in youth sport, including understanding dropout, supporting the holistic development of young athletes, and creating appropriate competition structures that enhance children’s experiences in sport.
The session formed part of a collaborative learning environment that brought together representatives from several national golf organisations across Europe. Participants engaged in discussions and shared insights on how to better support young people to stay involved and thrive in the sport.
ICOACHKIDS would like to thank Gavin Forrester and Zoë Thacker for the invitation, and extend appreciation to the participating organisations for their valuable contributions and engagement. These included the Norges Golfforbund, Dansk Golf Union, Swedish Golf Federation, Suomen Golfliitto – Finnish Golf Union, and Deutscher Golf Verband.
The workshop highlighted the importance of international collaboration in shaping positive and sustainable sporting experiences for children and young people.
