ICOACHGIRLS Project Engages Over 1,200 Girls Across EuropeThe ICOACHGIRLS (ICG) initiative, the most recent Erasmus+ project connected to the ICOACHKIDS movement, has made a significant impact across Europe during the past year—activating 1,273 girls across 10 European countries through inclusive sport opportunities.
Alongside increasing participation, the programme has also focused on strengthening the coaching workforce. Through ICOACHGIRLS, 317 female coaches have been trained, deployed and mentored, with 84% reporting increased confidence in their coaching as a result of the programme.
The project’s success reflects the collaborative work of an international partnership including the International Council for Coaching Excellence, Special Olympics, FIBA, Sport Ireland, NOC*NSF, Lithuanian Sports University and the Hungarian Coaches Association, with the support of the Carnegie School of Sport at Leeds Beckett University.
ICOACHKIDS would also like to recognise the leadership of Ruth Brazier, Sergio Lara-Bercial and Ladislav Petrovic, who managed and coordinated the project.
Across the programme, 490 activity sessions were delivered, creating safe, supportive and enjoyable environments where girls could develop confidence, skills and a love for sport. A special thank you goes to the girls who participated and to the coaches who helped make sport a fun, safe and inclusive space to thrive.
ICOACHGIRLS continues to demonstrate the power of collaboration in creating more opportunities for girls to participate and lead in sport across Europe.
